EDF Energy Renewables has confirmed that is has opened negotiations with a new community energy co-operative being formed in Hampshire over the purchase of a share in the proposed Bullington Cross wind farm.

Darren Cuming, EDF Energy Renewables’ Development Manager for the Bullington Cross project, said:

“We very much welcome the creation of the Hampshire Energy Group and its support for the proposed wind farm development at Bullington Cross.

“As a company we are in favour of the principle of community ownership and, alongside community benefit funds, recognise their importance in reinforcing positive local involvement and links to wind farm projects.

“Community ownership is something we are involved with at other locations and we are discussing similar arrangements with Hampshire Energy Group, should the project proceed, and we have opened early negotiations with them on this basis.”
