Local residents are being given the opportunity to attend further public exhibitions to find out the latest information on proposed plans for a new wind farm. EDF Energy Renewables is holding two public exhibitions to update residents on its application for a new wind farm to be established on a site near Bullington Cross.

The company submitted a planning application for a 14 turbine, 28MW wind farm on the site earlier this year. Since then the planning officers at Winchester City Council, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Test Valley Borough Council have asked for clarification on a number of issues raised during their public consultation.

This information is being provided to the councils and EDF Energy Renewables is also making these details available for the local public and other interested parties at two local exhibitions.

The events will be held at Whitchurch Parish Hall on Friday, November 15 (1.00pm - 7.00pm) and Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney on Saturday, November 16 (12 noon – 5.00pm).

Further information is being provided on a range of environmental and technical matters including ecology and ornithology, cultural heritage, connection to the national grid and local aviation issues.

Members of the public visiting the exhibitions will have the opportunity to raise questions with members of the development team and view 3D visual simulations of the proposed scheme from different locations.

Darren Cuming, onshore wind development manager at EDF Energy Renewables, said: “All the site investigation work undertaken at the Bullington Cross site continues to confirm our belief that the location has good potential for wind farm development.

“These events are intended to let members of the public know what sort of additional site information has been requested and how we are responding.

“The exhibitions have been organised into the evening and during the weekend so that anyone who wants to come and talk to us has the opportunity to do so.”
