Northumberland County Council has granted planning permission in February 2011 for the installation and operation of 3 wind turbines each rated at up to 2 MW and ancillary infrastructure at Boundary Lane, located to the south west of Newcastle, in the North East of England.
The 6MW wind farm is expected to offset the annual release of approximately 8,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide in the first year of operation and produce green electricity equivalent to the domestic annual demand of approximately 3,000 homes.
A recent ruling by the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) suggested that developers refer to CO2 savings in the first year of operation as it will reduce as more nuclear comes on line.
