EDF Energy Renewables

Bullington Cross

Project overview

EDF Energy Renewables is investigating the potential for a new wind farm to be established on a site to the west of Basingstoke and south of Whitchurch in Hampshire.

The proposed Bullington Cross wind farm site is located near to the junction of the A34 and the A303, on agricultural land covered by three local planning authorities, Test Valley Borough Council, Winchester City Council, and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

The company is to carry out further work on the potential for a maximum of 17 turbines to be located on the site.

The proposal, incorporating 2MW turbines, with an approximate hub height of 80m and total height to turbine tip of 126.25m‚ would be capable of producing 34MW of clean energy – enough to supply the annual domestic electricity requirements of approximately 15,800 homes and save approximately 32,000 tonnes* of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

EDF Energy Renewables will be consulting fully with the local community on its plans for the wind farm. Local residents will have the opportunity to see detailed information on the proposal and discuss it with EDF Energy Renewables staff at a series of public exhibitions and displays to be held later in the year.
